Our “Humans of Lazada” series takes a look at the professional and personal lives of more than 9,000 people who work at Lazada. As part of our 10th anniversary celebrations, we are also profiling employees who have been with us for over the last decade in a new subseries called “Lazadian Legend.”
“My journey with Lazada began in March 2012 when I took on a role as product manager with a team of just three members. I still remember that very eventful first day so clearly. Right after I was introduced to the team, I was immediately assigned an unexpected task of emailing our customers about the launch of Lazada’s new website in Vietnam. I had never done something like that before, but I learned so much – including how to complete the task – in just that one day with the help of my team. The next day was also full of new learnings and experiences. My days with Lazada are always filled with joy and new inspirations.
Ten years ago, when eCommerce was still a new concept in Vietnam, payment was one of the avenues through which we could build trust with our customers. There were options like cash-on-delivery that uniquely catered to consumers’ needs at the time while giving them confidence to transact. Over the last decade, we’ve evolved a suite of options that cater to existing preferences while easing customers into digital payments so that they can reap the benefits of secure financial solutions. The more I work on product development and payment, the closer I come to the one true purpose of my job: to serve our customers and partners better every day. I’ve kept this purpose top of mind and close to my heart throughout my decade-long career at Lazada.
My purpose has not only kept me focused on a daily basis but has also given me the motivation to constantly learn and try new things so I can elevate the standards of everything that I do. I also feel really lucky and grateful to be surrounded by my passionate teammates, who also share my vision. Now, our team has over 30 members. Their support has given me so much strength to embark on my path and its many ups and downs to achieve the one goal that my heart knows is right. My teammates are one of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed at Lazada for as long as I have.
Thanks to all the lessons and learnings we gained from Lazada, my team and I have been able to empower thousands of local businesses and help our customers and partners leverage eCommerce to reach their fullest potential. It’s been a dream come true for me to see the positive impact that we created at and with Lazada.
In the coming decade, our mission continues to be to serve the community; create more jobs; and empower local sellers, partners and customers, but the standard that we will hold ourselves to will definitely be 10 times higher than before. It has been such a pleasure and honor for me to be able to keep working and striving to do better while sharing good laughs and happy moments with my colleagues at Lazada Vietnam. Watching the Vietnamese economy and society grow and knowing that our work at Lazada has contributed to this growth has truly been a rewarding experience.”
