RedMart Joins Price Kaki to Bring Affordable Essentials to Singapore Consumers

RedMart, Lazada’s supermarket service, has become the first digital-only grocer to join Price Kaki, Singapore’s leading grocery price comparison app. Developed by the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE), Price Kaki’s easy-to-use service allows shoppers to compare prices from both brick-and-mortar supermarkets and online grocers. With the addition of RedMart, customers will have access to an even wider range of products and will be able to compare prices and make more informed purchase decisions.

CASE President Melvin Yong and Lazada Singapore CEO Loh Wee Lee signed a memorandum of understanding for the partnership last Thursday at RedMart’s West Fulfilment Centre. The ceremony was held in the presence of Low Yen Ling, the minister of state of trade and industry as well as of culture, community and youth.

During a tour of the 353,000-square-foot fulfillment center, Yong and Low witnessed the facility’s automation solutions, which has helped RedMart increase its capabilities by 50% during the start of the pandemic in 2020. Low also tried her hand at the automation operations by helping to pack several orders for RedMart customers.

Aside from announcing its addition to Price Kaki, RedMart also introduced Inflation Busters, an initiative that offers customers up to 5% discounts on close to 200 daily essentials, including affordable and sustainably sourced products from RedMart’s private label brands.

Lazada Singapore also announced a slew of initiatives to help households manage rising inflation and food prices. One such initiative is the launch of Laz Mama Shop, a LazMall store for consumers looking for dry, non-perishable products. The shop opened with close to 6,000 essential grocery items from over 1,000 well-known international and local brands. Products include household items, beverages, snacks, cooking items and baby essentials.

In the face of growing global uncertainties concerning everyday costs, Loh reaffirmed Redmart’s and Lazada’s responsibility to provide affordable groceries and daily essentials to Singaporeans. “With these initiatives, we hope to be part of the solution to help customers cope with the rising costs of food prices due to global inflation,” he said.
