Nguyen Tien Hung always knew he wanted to build something for himself. After obtaining a degree in banking and finance, he started working for a real estate company and quickly rose through the ranks, thanks to his business acumen and his savviness with numbers.
“My income was fairly decent, but I knew that even if I continued, my job would just be the same many years down the road,” the 27-year-old said. “So, I decided to resign to start my own business.”
Nguyen set up his men’s streetwear brand, TEELAB, in June 2020. COVID-related travel restrictions and lockdowns were still in place at the time, disrupting Nguyen’s initial plans of opening physical stores for his business. However, the young entrepreneur saw these challenges as opportunities to explore the potential of eCommerce, and he decided to invest in and build a digital-led business strategy for TEELAB.
In October 2020, the brand opened its first official online store on Lazada. The store currently has close to 120,000 followers, and its consumer base more than tripled in the second half of 2022 compared with 2021.
According to Nguyen, these achievements were made possible with Lazada’s seller tools, mega campaigns as well as the continuous and timely support of its account management team. For example, with consultation from the account management team, Nguyen leveraged Lazada’s affiliate marketing solutions to work with trendy influencers to market and bring his products closer to his brand’s target audience. During the most recent 11.11 campaign, TEELAB achieved 20% of their average monthly revenue within just one day, thanks to its affiliate marketing solutions strategy.
With its outstanding achievements, TEELAB was recognized as one of the top-performing startups at Lazada Vietnam’s Business eCommerce Seller Tribute (BEST) Day last October.
“It was an honor to have received this accolade from Lazada Vietnam,” Nguyen said. “The timely award also came on TEELAB’s second anniversary on the platform and is a great reminder to myself that I’m on the right track.”
